Lunar Eclipse

February 21, 2008

lunar

So Pete, Katie Way and I just spent about 25 or so minutes in the freezing cold watching a lunar eclipse. Bogus. But half of our logic class was outside, so we got some good laughs in there. For those of you wondering what a lunar eclipse is, there is a good definition on Wikipedia2.org: http://www.wikipedia2.org/index.php?title=Lunar_eclipse

Clifford, the Magic Schoolbus, and I…

February 20, 2008
ri state lib

Today I had the pleasure of venturing into Smithfield, RI to sign some papers at the real Verizon Store. Smithfield, for those of you who know me best, is where I spent everyday doing Noozi work at the Panera over winter break. Anyway, after I somehow resisted purchasing a new coat at Kohl’s, I drove around the area looking for a UPS Store and stumbled upon the Greenville Public Library. I do very much enjoy books and decided to swing by. I forgot how awesome libraries really were. The premise: it’s all free. You cannot beat that. No more Amazon for me. AND they have DVDs. What a great day! Message for all you kids out there: go to your local library!
On another note… Kate and I went to the Avenue Grille monday morning for breakfast and it made me realize how much I want a crew like Seinfeld.  I call Jerry, I’m taking applications for everyone else.  Let me know, we’ll be getting 2+ meals a day.

Life Changing Episode

February 18, 2008

While on duty tonight, I was somehow convinced to watch an epsiode of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition which happened to feature the Hughes Family.  The eldest son in the family, Patrick, was born without eyes and is not able to fully move his arms or legs; he cannot walk.  The house they were living in was not handicap accessable and was far too small for the whole family.  The father does not work to take care of Patrick and that makes finances difficult.  Patrick is also a member of the LSU Marching Band; his faher pushes him around during performances in his wheelchair.  If you click on this link i’m sure you’ll be able to watch the full episode in a day or two.  It really touched me.

This past weekend, while I was on ECHO, I spoke a lot about choosing Christian choices and trying to make good decisions.  Although I often come up short, I keep trying, and that’s what’s most important.  The people who made the new house for the Hughes family possible chose a Christian choice and, for the rest of their lives, will remember the looks on the faces of the Hughes family when they came home.  Please watch this episode and try to reflect on the choices you’re making in your life and if you’re really helping those around you.

This was on ESPN…

Sunday Aferternoon

February 17, 2008

So, Pete and I watched three movies this afternoon. Two endings and one the full way through. We’re cute, no lies. Now, off to mass and the gym, then duty.

UPDATE:  I’m not too sure why the 4:30PM mass was canceled, but there were about 40-50 of us waiting for it.  LAME.   Pete and I had watched Mean Girls this afternoon; I’d forgotten how awesome it was.

No joke…

February 14, 2008

No joke, no lie… I totally forgot today was Valentine’s Day. Guess it’s just been busy. On a plus note though, I get to be on duty for three whole nights of Spring Break. I was hoping for like, seven, but it’s better than zero I guess. One more class, a meeting, then home for a few hours. Paper and work due later tonight… I’m tired.

Seriously though…

February 8, 2008

At PC there’s a cafe in the basement of one of the apartment buildings. It’s located next to a convenient store. I’m sitting there right now. My issue is everything here costs considerably more than its alternative at either DD or Starbucks; and it sucks. If you’ve been here, you’ll understand why I drive to get coffee each day. Why the school just didn’t open a DD instead (aside from appeasing Sodexho,) and make bank (and make the students happy,) is a clear example of how God dislikes me and acts accordingly.
