Clam Jam

April 19, 2008

I realized a few things at this year’s BOP Sponsored Clam Jam.

  1. It’s much more fun to drink outside instead of inside.  It helps when you’re in a pen and everyone who is legit not 21 or older have to wait outside and watch you have fun.  It’s good to be old.
  2. My ideal job for any time after graduation:  The Budweiser beer guy who drove the truck to PC and for, mmmm, about 10 hours, only had to worry about replacing the empty kegs with full kegs.  Even at full capacity, he didn’t really do anything more then change one keg every 40 minutes.
  3. I love summer and I love outside.

Also, in case anyone cares, I’m officially done with weekend duties.  That’s pretty amazing.  I think I have one or so during finals week, but that doesn’t count because I get to do it from my room, by myself, until 12:00 instead of 2:30.

Lastly – For those of you who have been coming to PC Idol, thank you.  The finals are this upcoming Friday at 8PM in ‘64 Hall.  The key difference about this round from the others?  Ricky is not co-hosting; I am.  Get ready for me to embarrass myself in a whole new way.

Stupid Hockey East

March 22, 2008

A few things about this year’s Hockey East Tournament came up today and I think the only way i’ll get over them is by writting them down.

  1. PC didn’t make it even close to the finals.  For the money, etc.; huge letdown.
  2. I, as I try to remember to do each year and usually fail at doing so, actually bought tickets to the semi’s and finals for this year.
  3. (see above)  Forgot I bought tickets and was stuck on duty.
  4. Watched almost all of the BC vs. UNH game to only see it end off a bull shit shot deflected off a UNH stick.  Waste of 5.1 periods of hockey.  (note:  I don’t mean that.  It was a good game.)

Today’s Little Note

March 18, 2008

You really just have to enjoy what you do.  If you don’t enjoy it, don’t do it.  If you don’t enjoy your job, find something else.  If you don’t enjoy who you’re with, leave.  Don’t worry, don’t stress, don’t let small little fights take over your life.  you need to be happy with what you’re doing, you need to not live in a relationship with work or another person that is constantly pulled down by small fights, consistent nervousness, and a suppressed urge to actually do what you want to do.

I love working with Noozi and with residence life.  I have every intention to ride both those trains as long as I can.  I love doing doing professional presentations, working with clients, and helping people achieve their goals and dreams – those are my goals and dreams too.

School, especially undergrad, is definitely weighing me down.  On a day like today I really feel like each day I continue with my undergrad education is just another day closer towards giving up (note:  I know it is also one more day closer to graduating as well.)  I just have a lot of class work that, at the end of the day, almost seems more pointless than the work I did as a freshman or in high school.  I’m not saying that I’m necessarily smarter than the material, BUT, sometimes a program just isn’t right for someone.   It’s making me tired and unmotivated.  When I am able to do projects for residence life or my clients with Noozi I feel refreshed and motivated and I can lose complete sense of time when doing the work.

6-8 or so more weeks until jeans are a luxury on the weekend.  :-)

Technology these past few days has been pretty nifty

March 7, 2008

Apple yesterday announced their new SDK for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  What this will allow people to do is make their own applications that run from the actual device rather than online.  It is pretty cool and i’m impressed.  Now all I need is an iPhone on Verizon.  I think the best part of yestreday announcement was that the iPhone will now be able to Sync with Microsoft PCs and applications like Outlook.  Also, push email is the coolest feature you can have on a phone.  Good job again Apple.

Also, I played with Google street view today and I must admit that it’s awesome.  You can see PC perfectly.  Just head to Google maps and click on Street View and then you can see some of the more major cities from the street side view.  http://maps.google.com/maps

Quote of the Day

March 3, 2008

“Focusing your life solely on making a buck shows a certain poverty of ambition. It asks too little of yourself. Because it’s only when you hitch your wagon to something larger than yourself that you realize your true potential.”  -Barack Obama
